  1. i had a silly one night stand which turned into me sleeping with him every weekend for about 4-5 weeks round about 5 months ago. we used condoms but they did snap, so silly us we took them off and didnt bother using anything. i then went to the clinic and got the all clear, but then i went to the doctors a month ago and have told me i have genital warts(HPV), its the most horrible thing i could have been told, my legs went dead when i stood up. i felt dirty and ugly. i had the support of my Best friend but honestly its ruined me. i want to settle down and have a relationship but i dont think anyone will want me for what i have. i just want people to know please use something because an STI is probaly one of the most heartbreaking hurful thing you could go through. i havent spoken to the guy i got them off since or seen him! the anger i feel for him is unreal! so my message to all of you out there is USE CONTRACEPTION! its the most important thing about sex!”

  2. Rachel Anna and Jay. I understand fully what you are going through. I have been with my boyfriend for nearly two years now. He was the first person I slept with without a condom. He had a past and didn't care about using condoms, but now it has come on to me. I have to live with Warts and Herpes, and I am still devastated now. I have only had the one Wart and they have never come back, but since I am so run down knowing that I have two things I have to live with, the Herpes is always coming back.
It has ruined my life because if I was to get another partner I would have to tell him because I would hate for him to have to live with it aswell. Its very hard for me to get over and I found out 2 months after I slept with my boyfriend. It has put a huge strain and this relationship because I blame him, even though I shouldn't because it wasn't done perpously. I just hope that people know there is alot of people out there with this and they need to talk there is alot of help!”

  3. Kerry, I have that exacted same problem. I keep dennying it and I'm very embarressed about it so I havent been to the doctors. I don't think its an STI because I'm a virgin. I think the best thing to do is to go to the doctors and get it checked out. When I work up the courage I'll go to!”

  4. rachel, anna and jay, I caught it a year ago. It's annoying as it can come back if you're run down, but if you don't have an outbreak, you're okay - just make sure you use a condom.
It worries me everytime I'm with someone, and I think about it constantly. NOt enough is taught to people about STDs. I never even had sex with the person I caught it off, it's just a part of me now, can't spend time being angry...”

  6. Rachael & Anna I know what it is like to have to live your life with this "curse"... I contracted herpes during a time in my life when I was quite promiscuous & felt invincible. Playing ball in Europe. Finding this out really took away a lot of my confidence and now I'm 30 (got it when I was 24) and just wondering if I'll ever find someone to accept this.”

  7. I can relate well with Rachael(who commented below). I contracted herpes afew months ago. I am not a promiscuous person and did use a condom on the occasion I caught it. I was distraught and ashamed although had no choice but to tell my mum about it as I was unable to work or look after my child for over a week. It is a very painful, unsighty infection and I would not want anyone to go through this. I wish I had been more informed about how it could be caught (I really believed I was being careful). I was unlucky as was Rachael, anyone could get this, it's so easy to pick it up.”
